Overview
At Whop, an early stage tech marketplace startup, I lead a team of 3 as the Head of Social Content to grow the company's brand awareness.
Twitter/𝕏 was our main social platform. My team was responsible for growing the impressions of the @WhopIO account by 1500% over the course of 5 months with an average of 4 million impressions per month.
This increase in brand awareness contributed to the overall Growth team to help secure the company Series B funding at an estimated valuation of over $270 million.
Approach
As a marketplace SaaS platform, I built and nurtured relationships from a variety of verticals including: trading, sports betting, crypto, ecommerce entrepreneurship and the creator economy. This included being active in each vertical's respective communities between posting and engaging with both users and sellers on Twitter/X, Discord, Reddit etc.
Social content was primarily sourced into 5 categories:
Company milestones
Product updates & features
Highlighting sellers' success
Customer satisfaction
Trending topics (memes, viral news & engaging in culturally relevant spaces)
I consulted directly with the top clients on our platform to build actionable growth strategies by addressing their pain points and their position in the market.
I was also responsible for hiring a content team of writers and video editors to grow Whop's Blog and spearhead both long form & short form video strategy on YouTube. This resulted in improved SEO ranking on Google Search as well as an average of 2k views in reviving a dormant YouTube channel.
